Health

A healthy society starts from healthy and clean individuals. The organisation regularly holds street plays and village meetings to drive the message that one can protect himself by adopting hygiene. A good way is to construct and use toilets in households.

Despite this people continue to fall ill. As the health facilities in the area are very scanty, the organisation holds health camps in the villages on an intermittent basis. People not only get themselves examined in these camps, the needy ones also get medicines free of cost. The health camps are also used to spread awareness about health related issues, more particularly government health schemes like Janani Suraksha Yojana, safe motherhood, immunisation, etc.

Awareness is being created among the people on tuberculosis and HIV-AIDS. These two diseases are quite prevalent in the area. Apart from general precautions that the people may take to protect themselves from these two diseases they were also told facilities available for their treatment – both in government and private sectors. Innovative methods like taking out awareness chariot, wall writing, street plays, etc., are used for awareness generation.

A big health and social issue in the area is high consumption of intoxicants like beedi, cigarette, marijuana, tobacco, gutkha, liquor, etc. Their consumption not only deteriorates health but also leads to crimes. The people are being motivated to give up habit of consuming these intoxicants. The organisation has also published posters to motivate the people to go in for de-addiction.

To mark certain important events, fruits have also been distributed among patients in government hospitals.

The Indian system of medicines is quite effective in tackling diseases and keeping people healthy at a fraction of cost of Allopathic medicines. Intermittently, camps are organised to create awareness about ISM, that includes Naturopathy, Yoga, Ayurveda, Unani and Siddha.
